GRASS MARGINS

Grass Margin

A 2-metre conservation strip has been introduced alongside all of the arable fields. This is on top of the many miles of grass margins introduced through Countryside Stewardship. This benefits the smaller insects and ground nesting birds, such as Yellow Hammers, Skylarks and the rare Corn Buntings that have been seen on the farm. In the last number of years the hare population has expanded to great numbers. These can be seen both in the apple orchards and the corn fields in the early winter months.
