LEARNING & EDUCATION AT LOWER HOUSE FARM

Here at Lower House Farm we can assist schools and colleges to gain a better understanding of the countryside and modern day farming practices in a safe and secure environment.  A wide range of topics can be covered, depending on the season and curriculum, eg:

  • History – ancient, Roman, Civil War
  • Biology – plant growth, seasons
  • Animals – breeding, reproduction and types
  • Conservation – mini-beast hunts, woodland trails, plant hunts, canal conservation
  • ICT – Use of the meeting room to study information gained from outside.
  • Field trips – close proximity to local schools.
  • Communication – lengths, units, counting, maths

… this list is obviously endless.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

The farm is fully FACE (Farming And Children’s Education) - accredited (see link at bottome of this page) and staff carry CRB Disclosures.  This puts us in a unique position in the region to provide a service to teachers and students.

CLASSROOM

We can provide you with your own Classroom on-site in the form of THE STABLES (please refer to THE STABLES pages).

  BUSINESS & FARMING GROUPS

We are able to offer a greater in-depth study of all the subjects mentioned above.  As already indicated, the list is endless.  We can arrange either whole day or half day packages for groups of all sizes, e.g. supermarkets or smaller retailers.  These will be organisations who may well sell farming produce in any form but wish to have a day on a farm to get a better insight as to the product they sell and give more practical information to their consumers when asked.  Please contact us regarding packages and dates.
